Lochinvar introduced their SHIELD commercial water heaters in 2008, but in 2013 several important design changes were made that drastically improved the performance of the units and allowed for the following important benefits:
Efficiency: SHIELD water heaters can operate with a thermal efficiency of up to 96 percent, giving you an excellent level of fuel efficiency. An adjustable pump delay feature can help customize operation to further enhance efficiency.
Reliability: The SHIELD line is highly reliable and low-maintenance. The unique design of these commercial water heaters prevents the risk of lime scale buildup in the tank, so you don’t have to worry about scale removal services. Following the redesign, the number of connection points in the recirculation piping was cut from 23 to just 11, which greatly reduces the chances for leak potential for an even more reliable unit.
Easy Installation: Knowing that the spaces provided for commercial water heaters are not always easy to access, Lochinvar changed the SHIELD design, reducing the height and shrinking the footprint, to make it easier to maneuver the units through doors and into tight spaces. The control board was moved to the front and all the water, air, and vent connections were moved to the top to make the units even easier to install and maintain.
Wide Range of Models: The SHIELD line of commercial water heaters now includes a total of 8 models ranging from 125,000 to 500,000 Btu/hr, with both standard and ASME construction available on the 150,000 and 200,000 Btu/hr models.
